National Staying Healthy Month

January is National Staying Healthy Month! Kick off a new year with a renewed focus on your body and health, especially after all the partying and festivities of the holiday season. The aim of this month is to encourage everyone to focus on overall wellbeing and self-care.

Staying healthy doesn’t have to be anything complicated. There are many simple ways you can begin (or reinforce) habits that can help you in your pursuit of a healthy mind, body and spirit, including:

  • Drink water! Studies have shown that staying adequately hydrated can help reduce your risk of heart failure in the long-term.
  • Spending time outdoors can be an incredibly effective way to give your mental health a little extra boost… weather permitting, of course! But it’s something to keep in mind for the warmer months ahead.
  • Sit and sleep… in moderation! Turns out, there can be too much of a good thing! Developing healthy sleeping and resting habits can have many benefits, including maintaining regular energy levels in your day-to-day life.

Self-care IS care. We only get one body, so listen to it. Don’t ignore any warning signs, and try to develop and stick to healthy habits.

Happy National Staying Healthy Month!
